When Owen Brown (1771-1856) married the widow Lucy Hinsdale in 1841, he moved from 2727 Hudson Aurora Rd. (Whedon-Hinsdale House) to the house next door (2827 Hudson-Aurora Rd., Spring Hill Farm). Brown was one of the principal anti-slavery figures in Hudson and was the town’s "Stationmaster" on the Underground Railroad; he passed his hatred of slavery on to his son, John.
